When the CLA took the ‘Baby Benz’ spot in the Mercedes family, it left plenty of room for the C-Class to grow up. For 2015, it did just that.
The latest C-Class has grown in every possible direction, with an 80 millimetre increase in length and 40 millimetre increase in width lending to more cabin space. But it’s still a ‘Baby Benz’ in many regards, especially seeing as it’s styled like a smaller version of a certain other model in the Mercedes-Benz lineup known as the S-Class.

You may have heard of it; the latest S-Class is one of the most technologically advanced sedans on the market, and the 2015 C-Class certainly reflects on its big brother. Mercedes is offering the C with a whole host of active safety systems, including Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist … basically, it’ll assist you in doing a lot of things. It will you know if you’re driving in the wrong direction, thanks to an assist known as Traffic Sign Assist with Wrong Way Alert.
While the 2015 C-Class will be offered with a variety of diesel powertrains, North America will make do with two new engines at first. The base C300 will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, rated at 235 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. Replacing the C350 and its outgoing 300-horsepower V6 is the C400. That particular model will pony up 329 hp and 354 lb.-ft. of torque from its turbocharged 3.0-litre V6. Both C-Class models will have their seven-speed automatic transmission send power to all four wheels. In addition, the C-Class boasts three optional suspension setups, including a segment-first air suspension.

On the outside, the 2015 C-Class is definitely styled more aggressively than the outgoing model. The C-Class can be had with two LED headlight configurations in addition to standard halogen beams, while the The long hood and short rear deck definitely echo the S-Class. Inside, materials have been thoroughly revised and updated, with Mercedes-Benz aiming for more of a luxurious and elegant feel.
Pricing hasn’t been announced just yet, but the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will bow next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
