New reports suggest Toyota will introduce a handful of new Scion models in a bid to revitalize the youth-oriented brand.
Speaking with company insiders, AutoGuide reports a hatchback and a compact sedan will be offered in the next few years. The hatchback in question will likely be a rebadged version of the Toyota Auris, essentially a Corolla hatchback sold throughout Europe and Japan. More than likely, the rebadged Auris will be pegged as a replacement for the Matrix, which was recently discontinued.
As for the sedan, AutoGuide‘s insider says it will be based on the next-generation Mazda2. The next-generation Yaris is also expected to be underpinned by the next-generation Mazda2.
Beyond the Auris-based hatchback and upcoming compact sedan, a number of additional products are also in the planning stages, including a small crossover and the often-rumoured FR-S convertible.
The timing for those particular models has yet to be announced, but Scion’s upcoming hatchback is expected to debut as early this November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
