If you’re an Alfa Romeo fan and will find yourself at the Montreal Grand Prix this weekend, you’re in luck.
Despite the fact we’ve been waiting for what feels like a lifetime, the Alfa Romeo 4C will finally make its Canadian debut at the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival during the Montreal Grand Prix this weekend before hitting dealers this summer.
“What better place to debut an all-new performance vehicle inspired by Alfa Romeo’s legendary racing history, than at a festival celebrating the largest motorsports event in Canada?” Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Chrysler Canada, said in a release. “With its purposeful design for maximum performance, the 4C is sure to be the talk of the Crescent Street Grand Prix Festival.”
That’s probably an understatement, given how popular the 4C has been among automotive journalists and enthusiasts alike over the past year. That being said, this weekend’s reveal also officially signifies the return of the Alfa Romeo brand to Canada.
As a refresher, the 4C is powered by a 1.75-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 240 horsepower, fed to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Perhaps the 4C biggest trump card is the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, lending it a curb weight of just 900 kilograms, although North American models should be a touch heavier due to safety requirements.
