Often hailed as one of the most basic and rewarding driver’s cars out there, Lotus has unveiled a special edition of its latest Exige — but it’s still not available in North America.

Known as the Exige LF1, Lotus will build 81 examples as a commemoration to its Formula One team’s success last season, placing fourth overall. The Exige LF1 sports unique black-on-gold paintwork with red accents, paying homage to the racing liveries the company uses on its Formula One cars. Inside, the Exige LF1 sees unique touches in the way of leather seating with gold piping and stitching, as well as ‘LF1′ badges embroidered on the floor mats and headrests. Last but not least, the car earns a carbon fibre plaque etched with the car’s build number.

Powered by a mid-mounted, supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, the Exige LF1 pumps out 345 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, while curb weight is just 1,176 kg. In addition, the LF1 comes standard with larger brakes and Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo tires, as well as the company’s Race Pack and Dynamic Performance Management packages. As if owning one is not enough, Exige LF1 buyers also receive tours of the Lotus factory and Formula One team headquarters, and a replica of F1 driver Romain Grosjean’s helment, among other goodies.
