Honda has issued a recall for 1,038 Fit hatchbacks over potential driveshaft issues.
According to the NHTSA (hat tip to AutoGuide), 2013 Fit hatchbacks equipped with the five-speed manual transmission could see the passenger-side driveshaft break as a result of an improper heat treatment. That could result in a loss of power, but if the vehicle is parked and the handbrake isn’t applied, it could roll away.
Honda will contact owners affected by the recall, which is the second for the 2013 model year. At this point in time, no collisions or injuries have been reported.
As for the next-generation Honda Fit, the 2015 model is expected to hit dealers this summer.
