Honda will take to the North American International Auto Show next month with the all-new 2015 Fit.

Honda promises “significant advancements” to re-establish the Fit as the benchmark in the subcompact segment, including revamped styling and packaging inside and out, a flexible cargo area, fun-to-drive characteristics and new technology inside. The Fit will also ride on Honda’s new Advanced Chassis Engineering body structure and an all-new platform.

The 2015 Honda Fit is already on sale in Japan.

Handout, Honda

Honda released a teaser image of only its tail light, but the 2015 Fit is already on sale in Japan. We have a fairly good idea of what it could look like when Honda pulls the covers off next month in Detroit, but what lies under the hood remains a mystery. Honda promises new powertrains based off its Earth Dreams technology. In Japan, the Fit is offered with two gasoline engines — a 1.3 and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder — as well as a gas-electric hybrid. Considering the current Fit’s engine, it’s more than likely Honda will offer the new 1.5L engine, which benefits from direct injection and i-VTEC, mated to a six-speed manual or a CVT.
