Canadian pricing on 2015 Ford F-150 climbs higher

Canadian prices for the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 are increasing by as much as $4,800.

The new F-150 will start at $21,399 before freight, fees and taxes. The current 2014 model — the most popular selling vehicle in Canada — starts at $19,999, or $1,400 less than the coming model. Dealers were able to start ordering the new trucks on Monday but deliveries aren’t expected until late fall.

Gone from the 2015 model line up is the SVT Raptor and Limited trim, with the top line model in 2015 the Platinum Super Crew 4×4 long wheelbase costing $66,999 to start. The same configuration F-150 for a 2014 model starts at $62,199 — a $4,800 difference — but the 2015 has more standard equipment, according to Ford. The trim models offered for 2015 include the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, but an FX4 Off-Road package is expected to be offered on 4×4 models.

In the U.S., price increases range from $360 to $3,615, with a starting price of US$26,220.

The 2015 F-150, some 318 kilograms lighter from the use of an aluminum body and box, will come with three engine choices: a turbocharged 2.7-litre V6 with 325 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque; a turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 that currently produces 420 lb.-ft. of torque and a traditional 5.0-litre V8.
