It wasn’t a matter of if, but when — Chrysler has officially unveiled what is likely the world’s fastest and most powerful sedan, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
As you might expect, the Charger SRT Hellcat is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine as its two-door stablemate, the Challenger SRT Hellcat. That means it sends a face-melting 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels. Unlike the Challenger, a six-speed manual is unavailable, but Chrysler promises 160-millisecond shifts from the eight-speed automatic.

Chrysler hasn’t announced an official zero-to-100 km/h time, but says the Charger Hellcat can complete a quarter-mile run of exactly 11 seconds with the stock Pirelli P Zero tires. Top speed is said to be 204 mph (or 328 km/h) and the Charger SRT Hellcat will come with two keys — one red, the other black. As with Challenger SRT Hellcat, the red key unlocks all 707 horses, while the black one leaves it at 500 horsepower.
On the outside, the Charger SRT Hellcat sees the requisite go-fast bits, including a front end reshaped to produce better aerodynamics, as well as lightweight 20-inch wheels at all four corners with massive Brembo brakes peeking through. Inside, the Charger SRT Hellcat receives unique bits, such as a beefier flat-bottom steering wheel, Nappa leather with Alcantara inserts and an optional Harman/Kardon sound system. Tech bits include a reconfigurable gauge cluster, Chrysler’s intuitive Uconnect infotainment system and SRT’s suite of track apps and reconfigurable drive modes.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but expect the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat to slot close to the Challenger Hellcat, which starts at $63,995 in Canada.
