Ferrari is celebrating its 60th anniversary in North America with an absolutely breathtaking, limited-edition variant of the F12 Berlinetta.
Beneath the gorgeous, topless sheetmetal, the F60America is identical to the F12 Berlinetta. It’s still powered by a screaming 6.3-litre V12 engine, rated at 730 horsepower and 509 lb.-ft. of torque. All told, the F60Americal sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds — coincidentally, one-tenth quicker than the new Tesla Model S P85D.
Up front, the F60 wears a restyled nose, doors and unique alloy wheels to make it stand out from the “lesser” F12Berlinetta. Of course, the missing roof and twin hoops behind the seats, as well as the colour scheme inspired by Ferrari’s North American Racing Team race cars of the 1960s help considerably.
Inside, the F60America’s interior is a unique red-and-black theme, a tip of the hat to Ferrari’s racers of the past. The seats feature a stylized American flag appearing on the backrests and headrests. It also features more discreet cues, such as the gearshift panel, from other Ferrari models, such as the 458 Speciale and the LaFerrari.
Just 10 examples — all of which have already been spoken for — will be built and are valued at a jaw-dropping US$2.5 million.
