In about a year, we’ll see a diesel engine offered under the hood of the Porsche Macan SUV.
Speaking with Automotive News, Andre Oosthuizen, Porsche Cars North America’s confirmed the news, saying the automaker is currently “busy with the development and the engineering.”
The engine will be based on the same 3.0-litre unit found in the European-spec Macan diesel. It will pump out around 245 horsepower, and will likely make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next year. That puts the Macan diesel’s on-sale date anywhere between late 2015 and early 2016.
In China and the U.K., the Macan is also available with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder in the base model, although it’s unlikely we’ll see it in North America anytime soon.
