Acura is getting ready to debut a refreshed version of its ILX compact sedan at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The ILX hasn’t been a strong seller for Acura in North America, which is likely why the automaker is reworking the model with a “substantially new” facelift which the company hopes will provide “a sharper performance focus while delivering a greater set of high-value comfort, convenience and safety features that customers desire.”

Currently, the Acura ILX comes standard with a 150-horsepower 2.0L four-cylinder engine and paired to a five-speed automatic. A 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual borrowed from the Civic Si are also available, along with a hybrid powertrain exclusive to the Canadian market.

The refreshed ILX will debut next month at the L.A. auto show before going on sale in 2015 as a 2016 model.
