Following in the footsteps of the very quick (and very blue) S60 and V60 Polestar models, Volvo will be extending the same high-performance treatment to its SUVs.
In an interview with Australia’s Drive, Christial Dahl, head of Volvo’s tuning division Polestar, confirmed the news. While the V40 sold outside of North America will likely be the next model to see a Polestar variant, Dahl says the XC60 and recently redesigned XC90 will follow.
In addition to the high-performance SUVs, Dahl says Polestar is also working with Volvo on developing a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, destined for the next S60 sedan and V40 wagon, a model currently not sold in North America.
Dahl didn’t specify how much power we can expect out of the new engine, but promises more than just a horsepower increase over the current turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six.
