Subaru will give its Forester the STI treatment, but it’s not the kind you’d expect.
Revealed as a concept earlier this year, Road and Track says Subaru will reveal a Forester tS — short for Tuned by STI — on November 25 and production will likely be limited. Similar to the other tS-badged Subaru models, the Forester tS will be exclusive to Japan.

If you’ve been pining for a full-blown STI version of the Forester, don’t get your hopes too high, however. Expect to see a handful of cosmetic tweaks — such as a front lip, a unique grille and larger alloy wheels — as well as a handful of suspension and brake upgrades. The Forester XT’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine will likely remain unchanged under the hood.
