Hyundai is planning to debut a refreshed Veloster next year, promising more than skin-deep changes to the sheet metal.
The Korean Car Blog (hat tip to Autos.ca) says the facelifted Veloster will debut at either the Detroit or Chicago auto shows early next year. The most notable tweak will be the new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, destined to replace the six-speed automatic in the Turbo model.
Powertrain options will likely carry over unchanged — expect to see the normally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder in the base model, while the Turbo will continue with the more potent 1.6-litre turbo-four.
Other changes on the menu include improved materials to cut down on noise, vibration and harshness, as well as standard HID headlights, new seats for the Turbo model and slightly wider tires. Nothing has been confirmed on Hyundai’s end just yet, but we’re still hoping for improved suspension bits for the Veloster Turbo to make it into the hot hatch it needs to be.
The refreshed Hyundai Veloster is expected to hit dealers in February following its debut.
