The Dodge Challenger Hellcat hasn’t even hit dealers yet and it’s already proven to be extremely popular among enthusiasts.
Case in point: Chrysler enthusiast website Allpar reports the Challenger Hellcat has seen more than 5,000 pre-orders in the U.S. since October. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis says dealers logged over 4,000 orders when the system opened last month, and added roughly another 1,000 since then.
Naturally, it’s easy to expect demand for a muscle car powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 rated at 707 horsepower and priced around the US$60,000 mark would be high. But 5,000 orders in a month is undoubtedly a surprise for Dodge, especially considering the automaker intended to limit production to 1,200 examples each year. Initially, at least.
