Volvo unveils V60 Cross Country ahead of L.A. Auto Show

Not one to shy away from wagons, Volvo has taken the wraps off its V60 Cross Country ahead of its L.A. debut.

The V60 Cross Country is essentially a taller version of the V60 wagon with added off-road bits inside and out, following the same formula as the Audi A4 Allroad and the Subaru Outback. Initially, the V60 Cross Country will be available with Volvo’s six-speed automatic transmission and 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine, rated at 250 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque.

Compared to the standard V60, the the V60 Cross Country is some 2.6 inches taller and features front and rear skid plates underneath, an all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring and a hill descent system. To set it apart from the V60, the Cross Country wears unique bumpers, body cladding and side scuff plates, as well as 18-inch wheels at all four corners.

Canadian pricing hasn’t been announced, but Volvo says it will go on sale in Canada and the U.S. next year following its L.A. Auto Show premiere later this month.
