Jaguar is pushing the F-Type’s performance envelope even further with a new variant.

The British automaker is adding all-wheel-drive to the F-Type, allowing it to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h as quickly as 3.9 seconds, while top speed will be limited to 189 miles per hour.

Jaguar hasn’t detailed any other performance specs, but said the number of F-Type models will double to 12 by next year thanks to the new drivetrain. We’re willing to bet that means the F-Type’s existing supercharged V6 and V8 engines, as well as both coupe and convertible body styles, will be able to power both the front and rear wheels.

In addition to the AWD F-Type, Jaguar also said it’s partnering with the team behind the Bloodhound SSC and is aiming to set a new speed record above 1,000 miles per hour.

We’ll bring you more details on the all-wheel-drive F-Type lineup at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, which will kick off later this month.
