GMC is looking to add a handful of new models in a bid to boost the brand’s appeal and sales.
Duncan Aldred, Buick-GMC vice president, told Edmunds he is looking to “change the face of the brand.” He says although GMC isn’t in a position to immediately add new models, the brand is brainstorming different segments it could expand into.
Among the models being considered, we could see an off-road-ready Jeep Wrangler rival, as well as a flagship SUV above the Yukon Denali and a Buick Encore-sized subcompact crossover.
“We are looking at everything,” Aldred said. “What segments will grow? What segments will not? We are evaluating all possibilities that could really turbocharge the brand and the growth.”
Today, GMC’s lineup consists of the Sierra and the new-for-2015 Canyon, as well as the Acadia, Terrain, Yukon and Savana.
