Chevrolet has released another teaser image of what we can expect from the next-generation Volt.

Based on what we can see, the front end is considerably more angular than the current Volt, no doubt drawing inspiration from its more expensive stablemate, the Cadillac ELR.

Like the current Volt, the next-generation model will have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine serving as a range extender. It will also be paired to a redesigned Voltec electric powertrain.

GM hasn’t confirmed any performance or efficiency figures, but the automaker promises the 2016 Volt will be anywhere between five to 12 per cent more efficient and will be roughly 100 lbs lighter — no doubt translating to an increase in range, both in all-electric mode and overall.

The 2016 Chevy Volt will officially debut this coming January in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show.
