Chances are high we’ll see the Cadillac CTS-V debut at the North American International Auto Show, with an eight-cylinder surprise under the hood.
Unlike the ATS-V and its twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre V6, industry insider and spy photographer Chris Doane (hat tip to AutoGuide) says the CTS-V will be powered by a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 under the hood.
Although its still a rumour, the move certainly makes sense. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 already employs the supercharged V8, so it’s just a matter of Cadillac reaching into the GM parts bin. Not to mention the CTS-V’s main competitors — the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG — all boast V8s under the hood.
In the Corvette Z06, the supercharged V8 pumps out 650 horsepower. If the rumours hold true, it won’t be unreasonable to expect at least 600 horsepower out of the CTS-V — after all, that would also give it a healthy power advantage over the M5 and E63.
Unless it leaks first, we’ll bring you the latest on the Cadillac CTS-V when the North American International Auto Show kicks off on January 12.
