Dodge is launching a new customization program aimed at attracting more Viper buyers.
The new “1 of 1″ program, as Dodge calls it, adds a new trim level to the Viper lineup known as the GTC. Ringing in at US$94,995, the GTC’s $10,000 price premium over the standard Viper is hardly chump change, but the GTC model opens up a world of customization options for owners — over 25 million combinations, according to Chrysler.
The new customization program lets buyers choose between 8,000 exterior colour options, 24,000 custom-coloured stripes, 10 possible wheel styles, 16 interior trims and six aerodynamic packages. Once a customer has decided on a configuration, Dodge will send a 1/18 scale model representing their colour choices before confirming their order.
But there’s a slight catch — if someone else wishes to order that combination, or if your combination has already been done, it can’t be ordered for that same year in the name of maintaining exclusivity. And no, Dodge probably won’t stop you from ordering a Viper GTC, even if the colours you’ve chosen are questionably tasteful.
Along with the customization program, Dodge is introducing a new Viper Concierge service. This new perk allows customers to track the exact build process, including what’s being done to the car and where it is at a certain period of time. When the build process is complete, buyers can choose to have their Viper shipped to a dealer or picked up themselves at Dodge’s Connor Avenue assembly plant in Detroit.
