Mitsubishi is taking to this year’s Montreal Auto Show with a plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander SUV.
After establishing itself as the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in Europe this year, the Outlander PHEV will be available in Canada next year. But rather than being identical to the model currently on display in Montreal — a Euro-spec version of the Outlander currently sold in North America — Mitsubishi says the plug-in Outlander we’ll see “will look (and drive) quite differently) from the European model.”
The current, European-spec Outlander PHEV is the only twin-electric motor plug-in hybrid that’s equipped with four-wheel-drive. Mitsubishi has also fitted with a 2.0-litre gasoline engine to power the on-board generator, along with a 60 kWh battery, three different driving modes and a total of six regenerative braking modes.
Mitsubishi says we’ll see more details and specifications of the Canadian-spec Outlander PHEV closer to its launch next year.
