McLaren is taking to the upcoming Geneva Motor Show to premiere its most powerful model yet — the production-ready P1 GTR.
Following the concept version seen at last year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the McLaren P1 GTR sees a handful of tweaks under its sheet metal. McLaren says its power-to-weight ratio has been improved by about 10 per cent thanks to “significant weight saving measures and track-optimization” of its powertrain.

Handout, McLaren
Powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 and plug-in hybrid powertrain as the standard P1, those tweaks effectively push the GTR variant to 986 horsepower, or 1,000 PS. McLaren has yet to disclose the car’s performance specs, but the P1 GTR is virtually guaranteed to post some thoroughly jaw-dropping top speed, acceleration, lateral G and curb weight figures.
As for the price tag, the P1 GTR is said to cost roughly $3.3 million here in North America. If you’re lucky enough to buy a P1 GTR, you’ll have access to a McLaren racing simulator, an in-house driver training program and a handful dates where you can take your P1 GTR to some of the world’s best racetracks. You don’t even have to worry about transporting and storing your car — McLaren will take care of it.
McLaren will spend the next few weeks fine-tuning the P1 GTR’s driving dynamics and performance leading up to the Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off March 3.
