New Tesla update makes Model S P85D even faster

Almost magically, Tesla has made the Model S P85D  even faster in a straight line.

With a zero-to-100 km/h time of just 3.2 seconds, the P85D is already quick in a straight line. But Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced in a series of tweets that a new software update will cut the car’s sprint time to 3.1 seconds.

The quicker zero-100 km/h time isn’t the big news, however. Arguably the most impressive bit is that the update, which alters the Model S P85D’s inverter algorithm, can be performed wirelessly — over-the-air, to be exact. This is standard practice for Tesla, which adopts over-the-air updates to save drivers trips to their closest Tesla store, all in the name of convenience.

Elon Musk also says the Model S P85D was “actually designed to have insane traction in the snow. Insane speed is just a side effect.” Of course it was.
