Following yet another series of complaints, Chrysler is issuing another software update for its nine-speed automatic transmission.
According to Automotive News, the U.S. NHTSA is still fielding complaints over over the transmission’s performance, including rough shifts, lunging and unexpected gear disengagements, in 2015 Chrysler 200 and 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee models.
Chrysler aims to solve the issue with a software update reflash, which the automaker says is “intended to keep the vehicle performing as intended, and to prevent durability issues from occurring in the future.”
The update is available to owners via Chrysler dealerships, and is only offered on 200 sedans and Cherokee SUVs equipped with the 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine.
Chrysler’s future front-wheel-drive-based vehicles, particularly the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X, will utilize the same automatic transmission.
