VANCOUVER – The unofficial best in show vehicle at last year’s Vancouver International Auto Show was a radical 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback built and customized by 360 Fabrication in Abbotsford. The ever-present crowd milling around its display proved that.
This year, we get something new to drool over. It is considered the most significant restoration of a Lincoln in Canada ever, and the anonymous owner has chosen the Vancouver show as the place for the global unveiling.
Details are few, but here’s what we do know:
- The car will have a custom-made NASCAR quick-change rear end, the only one of its kind in the world.
- Power will come from a 1,250-horsepower Super Cobra Jet engine, a US$60,000 engine the owner won in a Ford lottery.
- The custom-made interior is made entirely of Ferrari leather, which was hand-stitched and shipped directly from Italy.
- The Focal sound system is worth a cool $100,000.
- The body has been made 7.6 centimetres taller to keep it in proportion to the 24-inch custom wheels.
- The car has had over 1,000 one-off customizations.
I’ve also heard that word of the car’s pending completion has attracted the interest of a number of big-name prospective buyers, including celebrities and professional athletes.
Our Rick Ernst was allowed into the 360 Fabrication shop for a peek earlier this week and filed these teaser shots. Flip through the gallery above to see the teasers.
