Aston Martin has taken the wraps off the Vulcan, an outrageous track-worthy hypercar destined to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Taking a page out of the McLaren P1 GTR’s playbook, the Vulcan will be limited to 24 examples and Aston Martin will offer buyers the chance to take part in a driver training program to ensure they can get the most out of the hypercar.
Setting it apart from the P1 GTR and the LaFerrari FXX K, the Aston Martin Vulcan is powered by a 7.0-litre V12 engine mounted just before the front wheels and mated to a six-speed sequential manual transmission. The engine was developed with Aston Martin Racing and pumps out more than 800 horsepower.
The Vulcan features plenty of carbon fibre throughout its chassis and interior, including a monocoque made out of the light stuff. There’s also a limited-slip differential, a magnesium torque tube and carbon fibre driveshaft connecting the engine to the transmission, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes peeking through lightweight 19-inch wheels — which are wrapped by decidedly massive 345/30-series Michelin tires.
As for the body, the Vulcan was penned by Aston Martin’s chief creative officer Marek Reichman and his team, and will influence the designs of future Aston Martin vehicles.
In fact, the body has a unique Canadian connection — panels will be manufactured by Multimatic, the same company that will build the Ford GT. Multimatic also manufactured the chassis of Aston Martin’s previous halo car, the One-77.We’ll bring you the latest on the Aston Martin Vulcan when it makes its official debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
