The next-generation Jeep Wrangler will likely receive two major updates under the skin when the new model arrives in 2018.
According to Autoblog, an anonymous source within Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles says the Wrangler is destined to receive the company’s EcoDiesel 3.0-litre V6 and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fiat-Chrysler hasn’t officially confirmed the news, but the move would certainly make sense given the EcoDiesel and eight-speed automatic combination are already offered in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500.
In those two particular models, the 3.0L turbodiesel engine produces 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. In addition, the 2018 Wrangler is expected to retain its live rear axles and rumoured to extensively use aluminum throughout its body.
