The Mazda2‘s Canadian launch has been delayed until next year.
Originally set to launch this summer, the Mazda2 will instead hit Canadian dealers in 2016. It’s a puzzling move considering the 2 has already made its Canadian and U.S. debuts, and it’s already in production and being sold in Japan.
Mazda says it’s pushing back the launch of the 2 so it can focus on two other vehicles: the CX-3, which is based on the Mazda2 and will undoubtedly be a hotter seller, and the 2016 MX-5 Miata, one of Mazda’s most iconic vehicles. Both the CX-3 and Miata are still on track to be launched this year.
As for the 2, Mazda Canada says it will reveal pricing and launch information at a later date.
