Toyota is adding a new model to bolster its already expansive hybrid lineup.
The Japanese automaker confirmed the news today, saying the new model will be a hybrid version of the RAV4 compact crossover. Aside from its upcoming debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show and a teaser image, Toyota has remained tight-lipped on the car’s details – including its powertrain.
That doesn’t mean we don’t have an idea of what to expect. Given the RAV4’s close relationship with the Lexus NX, we could see the NX300h’s 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and electric motor under the skin. In the NX hybrid, that combination nets a fuel economy rating of 7.1L/100 km in the city and 7.7 on the highway.
The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will make its official debut on April 2 in New York.
