Jay Leno’s good friend Peter Mullin of the Mullin Auto Museum dropped by the garage recently to show off his pristine 1933 Talbot-Lago Type 150CS teardrop coupe. The Talbot-Lago is a striking art-deco masterpiece on wheels and it is often considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

The Coupe is powered by a four-litre straight-six engine that makes about 140 horsepower, which was a huge amount for its day. When it was new, the 150 CS competed with prestigious cars like the Bugatti Type 57 and was one of the fastest cars on the road.

That power is sent through a complicated “pre-selector” four-speed gearbox, which unfortunately wasn’t working during Leno’s drive. The semi-automatic transmission refused to shift out of first gear and forced jay to adopt a more leisurely pace than usual. But even at 30 km/h, the Talbot-Lago looks like it could be flying along the French countryside at 160 km/h.
