In the slow trickle of information leading up to its official reveal, GM announced three new features set to be available on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS.
The first feature will be Magnetic Ride Control, originally reserved for the outgoing Camaro ZL1. As with the handful of other GM models this feature is available on, Magnetic Ride Control lets drivers adjust the car’s handling characteristics, responsiveness and comfort via three dampening modes: Tour, Sport and Track.
Along with Magnetic Ride Control, the 2016 Camaro will allow drivers to tailor the car’s characteristics such as throttle input, steering and how soon stability control kicks in, with a new Drive Mode Selector. Snow/Ice, Tour and Sport modes are standard on all models, while the SS gains a Track mode.
The final feature for the 2016 Camaro is a revised dual-mode exhaust. With the help of electronically-controlled valves, the new Camaro should sound exponentially meaner under heavy acceleration. Drivers can even personalize the exhaust’s bark with a handful of options, from a quiet “stealth” mode to a gruff “track” setting.
The 2016 Chevy Camaro will make its full debut in Detroit on May 16.
