Honda has revealed official Canadian pricing for the all-new 2016 HR-V subcompact crossover.
Starting at $20,690, the 2016 HR-V is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine good for 141 horsepower and 127 lb.-ft. of torque. Front-wheel-drive is standard, while buyers can opt for all-wheel-drive. A six-speed manual is also available on base LX and mid-range EX trim levels with FWD, while a CVT is offered across the board.
Base LX models come standard with goodies such as 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a back-up camera and LED tail lights. For an extra $1,300, Honda will let you opt for the CVT and that will net you the cheapest and most frugal HR-V possible – the front-wheel-drive and CVT-equipped LX is rated at 8.3L/100 kilometres in the city and 6.7 on the highway. All-wheel-drive is also available on the LX.

Step up to the mid-range EX and that will net you an upgraded infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen display, automatic headlights, heated seats, heated side-view mirrors, fog lights, a moonroof and Honda’s LaneWatch system. The front-wheel-drive, manual HR-V EX starts at $23,190, while all-wheel-drive and a CVT will cost you an extra $2,500.
Finally, the range-topping EX-L starts at $29,990 and comes standard with all-wheel-drive and the CVT, as well as GPS navigation, leather seats, an auto-dim rear-view mirror and roof rails.
Given the HR-V shares its underpinnings with the Fit, you can expect all the practicality enhancements, including Honda’s highly configurable Magic Seat system. North American-spec HR-Vs will also be manufactured alongside the Fit in Honda’s Celaya, Mexico plant.
The 2016 HR-V hits Canadian dealers this summer – July 10, to be exact.
