Many people define the “ultimate” road trip in unique ways, but this proposed superhighway could be the one to rule them all.

Known as the Trans-Eurasian Belt Development (TEPR), the plan was spearheaded by Russian Railways head Vladimir Yakunin. It would include pre-existing roads to connect London and New York, but most of the highway would be built from scratch alongside the Trans-Siberian Railway across Russia.

In total, the highway would span about 12,910 miles, or about 19,617 kilometres. As for the cost? “Trillions of dollars” according to Yakunin, so there’s a chance this dream road trip could remain exactly that – a dream.
