With the final Veyron in the history books, Bugatti is working on a successor that promises to considerably crank up the insanity.
A new report from Britain’s Car suggests the successor will be powered by the Veyron’s 16-cylinder engine, but complete with a significant number of enhancements aimed squarely at taking on the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and LaFerrari.
Named as a tribute to Louis Chiron, a post-First World War-era driver who raced with Bugatti in the late 1920s, the Bugatti Chiron will reportedly use a set of electric turbochargers. We can expect 1,500 horsepower and 1,106 lb.-ft. of torque, a zero-to-100 km/h time of just two seconds and a top speed of 288 miles per hour.
Car also suggests the Chiron will be more liveable compared to the Veyron. Ergonomics, visibility and interior space have been addressed, while better fuel economy is also on the menu – thanks to the electric turbochargers, as well as cylinder deactivation and direct injection, the Chiron will reportedly achieve 14 miles per gallon.
While it was originally slated to arrive this year, expect the Bugatti Chiron to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
