Aftermarket tuner Roush Performance has taken the wraps off their most powerful variant of the 2015 Ford Mustang.
Based on the standard Mustang GT, the Roush Stage 3 Mustang adds a supercharger to the 5.0-litre V8. Roush has yet to determine final horsepower figures, but the overall package should be good for at least 630 horsepower – a healthy increase over the standard Mustang GT’s 435 horses. This translates to a better horsepower-per-litre figure than the 707-HP Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

Along with the tweaks to the engine, the Roush Stage 3 Mustang gets a new exhaust system but can also be fitted with a new active exhaust system. This lets drivers adjust the volume and tone of the exhaust with modes ranging from a subtle Touring mode to a uncorked Track mode. There’s even a Custom setting, allowing drivers to program the exhaust by themseves with virtually infinite possibilities via a mobile app.
Of course, the Roush Stage 3 Mustang also comes with a handful of tweaked suspension components. Height-adjustable coilovers are standard fare, while Roush also offers a ‘TrackPak’ system that allows customized settings for the suspension’s height, compression and rebound. Cooper RS3 high-performance tires wrapped around 20-inch wheels sit at each corner.

Handout, Roush
Visually, the Roush Stage 3 Mustang gets a restyled front fascia with functional aerodynamic bits, as well as side skirts, a rear diffusor, a decklid spoiler and the requisite Roush badging and graphics.
Roush has priced the Stage 3 package from $21,995 – on top of the Mustang GT’s sticker price – in the U.S.
