Talk about playing for the cameras.
Google Maps’ Street View car recently visited the famed Top Gear test track in the U.K. to go for a lap and record the runway. The motoring show’s mystery driver, the Stig, was there as well in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, presumably just to showboat for the cameras and make Google’s tiny Opel feel largely inadequate.

Top Gear’s behind-the-scenes video shows the Stig having a bit too much fun kicking up tire smoke for the Street View camera car to choke on. Later, the Stig literally runs circles around Google’s poor driver. As far as races go, this one wasn’t even remotely fair — but it was still fun to watch.
Check out the video below and also take a virtual tour of the famous Top Gear track care of Google Maps. Just be prepared to see a lot of the SLS AMG’s backside in these Street View images.
