The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has narrowed down its Canadian Car and Truck of the Year contenders to three finalists for each award.
The Mazda3, Mazda6 and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray are in the running for the Canadian Car of the Year award, beating out other category winners, including the Kia Soul, Lexus IS 350, Infiniti Q50 Hybrid and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The Mazda3 was the winner of AJAC’s Best New Small Car under- and over-$21,ooo, while the Mazda6 was named the Best New Family Car under $30,000. The Corvette Stingray beat out the BMW 4 Series and Jaguar F-Type in the Best New Sports/Performance Car over $50,000.
The redesigned Acura MDX, the all-new Jeep Cherokee and the extensively refreshed Kia Sorento are the three finalists for AJAC’s Canadian Truck of the Year award. The Cherokee, returning to the Jeep lineup after a 13-year hiatus, beat out the Toyota RAV4 and the Subaru Forester as the Best New CUV/SUV under $35,000.
The Kia Sorento was named the best SUV over $35,000, while AJAC awarded the Acura MDX top honours as the best SUV over $60,000.
