Ford‘s new infotainment system will debut in the 2016 Escape crossover and Fiesta subcompact this summer.
Announced last December, Sync 3 is billed as a replacement for the fussy MyFord Touch system. Ford promises the new infotainment system will be more intuitive thanks to new features such as swiping and pinching functions, as well as app tiles for navigation, audio and cell phone control. We can also expect better overall smartphone integration and more conversational voice commands.

Ford’s latest infotainment system, Sync 3, is no longer based on a Microsoft operating system.
Handout, Ford
In April, the Escape was Canada’s best-selling compact SUV – making the debut of Sync 3 in the 2016 model something of a no-brainer choice for Ford. Along with the infotainment system, we’ll also likely see a mid-cycle refresh with revised styling for the 2016 Escape. As for the Fiesta, Sync 3 is expected to be among the only major changes.
Following the 2016 Escape and Fiesta, expect Sync 3 to find its way to other models in the Ford and Lincoln lineup.
