The millionth Corvette ever made, a white 1992 convertible, was one of eight cars to be swallowed by a massive sinkhole in the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky last year.

The car has since been exhumed but suffered significant damage during the incident. According to GM, the car is currently undergoing a restoration with a focus on preserving the car’s originality. Rather than rebuild the entire vehicle from the ground up, efforts will be made to conserve the original factory appearance of the car.

The 1992 convertible is the second of three cars that GM has pledged to restore. A 2009 Corvette ZR-1 prototype was lightly damaged during the event and was returned to original condition last fall.

The remaining five damaged Corvettes including a 1962 model, a “Mallett Hammer” Z06, and the 1.5 millionth Corvette, will remain damaged and unrestored as part of an upcoming sinkhole exhibit in the museum.
