Hot on the heels of this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche dropped a teaser of a new sports car currently in the works.
The image was one of three posted on Porsche’s Facebook page, depicting the 919 Hybrid alongside a covered car billed as “Mission: Future Sportscar.”
Understandably, details are still very thin. But given what Porsche is calling it, there’s a very good chance this mystery car could be the oft-rumored 960, something of a “Ferrari-fighter.”
If the rumours hold true – and Porsche is certainly making things look promising – the sports car will slot between the 911 Turbo and 918 Spyder, and will be aimed squarely at the likes of the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 650S. That means we can expect at least 600 horsepower and a new, aluminum-intensive platform with standard all-wheel-drive.
Expect to see the mystery Porsche unwrapped by 2017.
