Fisker is on the cusp of returning to North America.
After emerging from bankruptcy, Fisker – now officially called Fisker Automotive and Technology Group (FATG) – intends to build a new plant in Moreno Valley, Calif., in a bid to reboot Karma production. It will create some 150 manufacturing jobs when production kicks off.
“FATG believes in the quality, work ethic and competitiveness of manufacturing in the United States,” company marketing chief James Taylor said. “California’s natural beauty, trend setting, technology and environmental focus are perfectly aligned with our Karma relaunch.”
When production restarts, the car will be known as the Elux Karma, a name given by Wanxiang, Fisker’s new Chinese parent company.
Current Karma owners won’t be left in the dark, either – FATG is offering a Customer Support Program, aimed at fulfilling parts and service needs. The program also offers to cover up to $2,000 in repair and $1,000 in labour costs.
The Elux Karma is expected in showrooms sometime in 2016.
