According to a report from BoldRide, Ford is considering a twin-turbo V6 for the upcoming Mustang GT500.
Those accustomed to the enchanting cognitive dissonance of a low, throaty V8 rumble played over the shrill whine of a supercharger might have to get used to a V6 warble. The previous GT500 used a supercharged 5.8L V8 and produced an awesome 662 horsepower. Those are very big shoes for a V6 to fill.
The report states that Ford might use a twin-turbo V6 similar to that in the 600+ horsepower Ford GT. Additionally, automotive traditionalists will be pleased to know that the GT500 is rumoured to retain the option of an automatic transmission.
The new model is expected to start production in 2018.
