In what could be the smallest recall this year, GM is calling back exactly 10 copies of the Chevrolet Cruze and Volt.
The issue? According to the Detroit News, inner tie rods connected to the steering gear might not be tight enough. As a result, the defect could result in a loss of steering, thus increasing the risk of a crash.
In its filing to the NHTSA, GM says an error in one of its parts suppliers machine allowed the tie rod to be tightened with incorrect torque specs. To remedy the issue, GM will notify the 10 owners to have their local dealers replace the steering gear assembly.
No injuries have been reported, and the defective Cruzes and Volts were built between Nov. 8, 2013 and March 12, 2015. Of the 10 cars, nine are in the U.S. and one 2013 model-year Cruze is in Canada.
