Infiniti has given us our first full sneak-peek at the production-ready Q30 hatchback.
Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, Infiniti bills the Q30 as its latest foray into the premium compact car segment. The look is decidedly close to the concept with very few changes – and we can expect a QX30 crossover variant down the road, aimed at the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Lexus NX.
Infiniti has yet to dish details on the powertrain, but we already know the Q30 will essentially be a rebodied Mercedes-Benz. As part of a technology sharing agreement between Daimler and Nissan-Renault, the Q30 will share an engine, transmission and front-wheel-drive platform architecture with the CLA and GLA-Class.
That’s where the similarities end, though. The exterior is entirely unique compared to the CLA and GLA, and according to Car and Driver, Infiniti even managed to get their own infotainment system to work with Mercedes’ electronics.
Look for the 2017 Q30 to hit dealers next year.
