Audi was one of the first manufacturers to incorporate LEDs into car lighting and according to Automobile, the German automaker is working on OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology.
Audi has released a drawing of a tail light belonging to their mysterious CUV concept to be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The automaker says OLED lights don’t require cooling systems like LED units and therefore can be used in innovative shapes and spaces. It also uses less energy than a conventional lighting setup and can be brightened or dimmed depending on the situation.
Details on the CUV concept in question, besides what tail lights it will have, are very scarce. Autocar says it might be the Q6 e-Tron, featuring a hybrid powertrain, a rakish roofline and between 300 and 500 horsepower.
