What were you doing when you were three-years-old? Because when Lamborghini was a three-year-old company, they built the Miura. They made their first car in 1964 and by 1967, the Miura was a reality.
It was like nothing else before, with an advanced, high-revving DOHC V12 mounted sideways behind the passenger compartment. It was nearly as low as a Ford GT40 and instantly made front-engined Ferraris of the time look antiquated.
The Miura was never an affordable car. In 1970, when the red car featured by Petrolicious was made, it cost $19,000. To put that into perspective, back then you could by a decent house for $11,000. The current owner of this Miura P400 S has owned it since 1979 and doesn’t plan to ever sell it.
Can you blame him? Petrolicious takes a look at what made the Miura such a magical car and why it’s still the ultimate 1960s supercar.
