Even though it was redesigned just last year, Ford is already thinking about the Mustang‘s refresh.
Automotive News reports the Mustang is due for a facelift once 2018 rolls around. Along with the obligatory styling tweaks, expect a 10-speed automatic transmission and the return of the Mach 1 – a trim we haven’t seen since the 2004 model year. A full redesign is scheduled for either 2019 or 2020.
Details about the 2018 Mach 1 are still unknown, but expect it to see a handful of engine, brake and suspension upgrades. The previous Mustang Mach 1, last offered in 2003 and 2004, had 310 horsepower from it’s 4.6-litre V8 – up from 260 that year – as well as bigger brakes, stiffer springs and struts made by Tokico.
Along with the Mustang, expect the 10-speed automatic, which is being co-developed with GM, to appear in the Ford F-Series and Lincoln’s next-gen models.
