After a 44-year hiatus, Mercedes-Ben is returning to the world of top-tier luxury convertibles.
Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in just a few weeks, Mercedes has given us our first official glimpse at the upcoming S-Class convertible. It’s everything you’d expect – luxurious, big and as technologically-advanced as the S-Class sedan and coupe, plus a few new features thrown in, such as Airscarf, Mercedes’ neck-level heating system and Aircap, an automatic wind protection system. There’s also intelligent climate control, heated rear seats and even heated armrests.
Under the skin, expect the twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre V8 from the S550 coupe under the hood. Rated at 449 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque, it will likely send all that kick to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Unless Mercedes-Benz dishes full details first, we’ll bring you the scoop on the S-Class convertible when the Frankfurt Motor Show kicks off September 15.
