Ford limiting GT production to 200 cars per year

Ford didn’t seem to be kidding when they said the GT supercar was going to be exclusive.

In the seemingly endless stream of details slowly trickling out, Autoweek says Ford will build 200 copies of the GT per year. Of those, 100 will be destined for the U.S. market and the remaining will be distributed worldwide in markets where Ford’s presence is strong.

Pricing is still unannounced, but expect a Lamborghini-like US$400,000 for the first year. Further mimicking the supercar experience, you’ll need to apply to buy a Ford GT – though, once again, exact details of that process are still under wraps.

And in case you forgot, the GT will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine, good for at least 600 horsepower and paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. If you miss out on the first batch of cars, you can always rely on Forza Motorsport 6 to get your Ford GT jollies.
